Dr. Dante D. Wright I, a native of Dallas, Texas, is a husband, a father, a friend, and an avid sports fan. He has served as the Senior Pastor at Sweet Home –The Pinnacle of Praise, since 2005. He is committed to preaching to the members of SHBC – The Pinnacle of Praise and committed to teaching and discipling its members to be Apologetics of the faith.
Dr. Wright loves studying the field of homiletics; he is an avid reader and an advocate for social justice and racial reconciliation. He enjoys traveling and sports, especially football. He followed his heart and talents after high school,
having earned an athletic scholarship to play football at Cisco Junior College, Cisco, Texas, where he earned an Associate Degree in 1991. He continued his education and collegiate football career after earning another athletic scholarship at Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, Missouri, where he earned a B.S. in 1994.
Following his collegiate football career, Dr. Wright began his coaching career as the wide receiver coach for Hofstra University, Hempstead, New York, and has worked on coaching staffs of University of North Texas, Northwestern State University, and Arkansas State University. Although coaching was his passion, his call into the gospel ministry proved even more powerful. In a giant leap of faith, he resigned from Arkansas State University to become the full-time Senior Pastor at True Light Baptist Church, Blytheville, Arkansas.
Dr. Wright embraced the ultimate call on his life to surrender to full-time ministry. He continued to equip himself academically to do ministry work, earning an M.A. in Christian Leadership from Criswell College, Dallas, Texas; an M.Div. and D.Min. from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary, Lynchburg, Virginia; Th.M. and Ph.D. from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Dr. Wright has held several adjunct professor positions and is currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Christian Studies at Anderson University, Anderson, South Carolina.
Outside of his pastoral and teaching responsibilities, you will likely find him reading, tracking political and current events in the news, or watching sports.
